Emily Buskey Memorial 4H Clinic with Melissa Ellis

  • Cornish Fair Grounds 294 Town House Road Cornish, NH, 03745 United States (map)

The Emily Buskey Memorial Fund was set up in Memory of Emily Buskey. Emily is a former Horse Hugger. She was passionate about 4H, horsemanship and loved obstacle work. She lost her battle to cancer in 2020. Horse Huggers 4H and Emily Buskey Memorial Fund want Emily’s passion to live on! They are sponsoring 4H'ers free of charge for a one day Harmony Horsemanship clinic with Melissa Ellis on June 10th at the Cornish Fairgrounds. The clinic is open to any 4H'ers with preference placed on Horse Huggers 4H'ers getting first choice of clinic spots! For more info on this please reach out to Melissa Drye at msdrye@comcast.net Would you like to know how to create a “Yes” horse? Would you like to know how to build a trust and partnership with your horse so you can conquer challenges you never thought possible? I am a Level 4 Certified Harmony Horsemanship Instructor and our farm is the face of Harmony Horsemanship USA! I truly believe in the power of this training technique and am excited to share it with you and your horse! Harmony Horsemanship will help you Understand Yourself, Understand Your Horse and Understand The Language That Connects You. During the morning session we will use Lindsey Partridge’s Harmony Horsemanship techniques to work through a process of building blocks in order to make these goals a reality. The process is fair and kind. Your horse will learn, that what ever you ask of them, you will keep them safe and they can trust you. At lunch, Melissa will give a demonstration with one of her horses and there will be time for questions and answers after! During the afternoon session, we will put what we have learned to a test and set up a gamblers choice trail competition! Each obstacle will have points assigned to it. The rider or handler will need to strategize what obstacles they think their horse will be good at and try to get as many points as possible during their time frame! This clinic will be limited to 12 4H participants/horses but auditors are welcome! There will be a charge of $30 per day for auditors as a contribution to the Emily Buskey Memorial Fund. There will be free day stalls provided to clinic participants. Please leave your stall stripped at the end of the day. What To Bring: Please bring buckets, hay, grain, fly spray, a helmet and treats! Make sure your equine partner actually likes your treat selection. Ideally have a good amount of small bit size low sugar treats. For tack, bring what you normally ride in. If not riding, no worries the clinic can be done completely on the ground. Also bring a rope halter and a 12-15’ foot lead. I will have Harmony Horsemanship Fusion Halters and ropes here for sale as well! Please remember to bring UTD coggins/rabies documents. It is highly recommend that your horse is UTD on all vaccines. Clinic Time: 10-4 Weather: We shall hope for the best however this clinic is rain or shine. We will reschedule however for thunder and lightning or a complete washout day with cold downpours. How To Get There: 294 Townhouse Road will get you to the fairgrounds. Signs will then direct you to the horse rings. If coming from VT with a big trailer, plan to avoid the Cornish-Windsor covered bridge. You can avoid this by going through Ascutney or West Lebanon, depending on which way you’re coming from.
